Default Yamaha G2 Predator 670 Swap

Hello, I thought i would start a thread to share progress as I work through my g2 project. I am new to the forum, but have learned a lot already from other members by reading through old threads. I picked up a 1986 G2 a couple weeks ago. I removed the homemade canopy, then also removed the stock g2 engine (supposedly ran when parked, so if anyone needs g2 engine parts i have them). I am now starting to mock up the 670 and will be getting help from a friend to weld up a cradle later this week. I also ordered a comet 780 clutch that should be in early next week. I will continue to share photos along the way.

The day I got it.

Old Engine.

Predator 670.

First mock up.

Woohoo, count me in for this swap!

Here is the mount I made, I describe it there, ask any questions you want. Could fit a twin easy enough but I did keep the stock mounts. You should have a beefy limit bolt/strap/etc if you do a twin that way so it don't break the mounts with torque. My clone broke the stock tension cable I made one with a bolt and plate. Unless you make it without the stock mounts of course.

I made some good progress today. My buddy was able to fabricate the brackets to drop the swingarm low enough to fit the engine under the seat. I bench tested the motor and it runs fine (I wanted to run it before i started cutting the exhaust up in case I needed to return it). I also made a mount for the muffler to move it further back so the exhaust would exit the wheel well, I just need to find some 1" flexible exhaust tubing to complete it. I was able to mock up the engine, and install the Comet 780 clutch. I also sanded the frame and hit it with a coat of paint. After it dries I will mount the engine.

Cool !! Remember the muffler needs to move with the swing arm.
