Here's an easy way i did it recently:
Cart in tow, batt. pack disconnected, cart lifted in the back,
disconnect the 4 a/f wires on motor, install jumper cables between A1 / F1 and A2 / F2, hook up external 12v battery to A1/A2. If the motor is ok, it will turn at low speed... very easy!

Yep that’s the same way I tested mine. I just lack the mental power to explain it well enough to be replicated

Awesome guys I will try that tomorrow!! Thanks! That’s about the only link left in the chain. Just found it weird the solenoid never even clicks to give the motor any juice… I will update soon.

Solenoid not clicking is not caused by a bad motor.

Well, final report (almost too humiliating to share but if it helps someone…)

First of all, thanks for the motor test info, it was super easy and after a successful test, is what made me take a second look at the controller

I purchased a Navitas controller to replace the original Moric. Watched a video of the install which seemed to be the identical model and a vary straight forward cable swap, buuuttt…left out one important detail. There were two cables crimped together that were originally on the B- terminal. After diving into the Navitas instruction manual a little deeper (what an idea) the G29 requires you to cut one of those cables, crimp a new end on, and switch it to the B+ terminal on the new controller.

Worked like a charm and the cart is now rippin’!

Nice to hear... but wondering both cables on B- Terminal were crimped together? Both are the biggest cables on board ( batt. neg. / motor A2 ). Anyhow, thank you for reporting back, always something to learn!

Most Yamaha controllers - and Alltrax run with the B- and Motor A2 terminal connected at the controller so the stock cables have the two cables crimped into one fitting. Sounds like the Navitas is different in that respect.
