Default Bit the bullet: G2 420cc Predator Build

I just wanted to let you all know that I finally put the order in for the 420cc Predator engine from Harbor Freight(with a 25% coupon for Jan. 1st. orders), and a clutch adapter from Carts Plus. I just pulled the old 285cc motor out. Here are a few pics of the cart w/o the engine.

I have measured approx. 10.5" for the distance between my clutches(measured from center to center). That was with the stock engine, with belt in place. Let me know if you have any different numbers, or if I need to take anything into account while using my stock belt.

I had to redrill and move the motor plate over 3/4" so the clutches would line up

Just a little update. I removed the skidplate and the air filter bracket last night. Still waiting on the motor to arrive. Said it would be here on the 9th...hopefully. I am sure I will have questions along the way, so thanks for any help that you all provide. I am sure it has been mentioned in another thread, but how much are y'all removing from the length of the crankshaft?

Check my thread here in clones. I cut it way back so only 1 1/8" of shaft left (of the 1" part) and used no spacer behind it. It was only way to have clearance between the recoil and fuel tank. I never touched the airbox bracket, I welded on a new tube for my new airbox there. My cart never had the bottom pans.

I'd say try to keep the mounts aligned right when you put bars in if you do it like mine, the mounts flex a lot and stock engine aligns them. Some take them out but I didn't and kept the gen start too. It works great on both carts I put a clone in. Was riding mine today finally, after getting my clutch put back together. Had a little snow so I was doing big powerslides with it...too much fun.

Sho, I bet you were a little nervous cutting that much off of the shaft for the first time...or at least I would be! Yeah I want to keep the stock gas tank so cutting alot off the shaft will probably be my avenue.

I measured twice, or maybe five times lol. I've done a lot of engine stuff as well as fabricating/industrial/welding....power tools are fun ya know. I had a big air grinder that cut it off quick, but its not hard to cut. Here is a pic of mine with the adapter on it ready for the clutch, the first photo I posted.

Now look at the last photo posted here (#21) you can see the gas tank and recoil, note the foam that hits the top of the recoil. I tore off the bottom part where the recoil is. I can just fit my fingers between the tank and recoil.

FedEx just stopped by today with my carts new motivation. I was surprised at how well it was packaged. Anyway, here are a few pics before the "fun" starts.
Sorry for the dark pics (phone camera).
