Can you add another 6 volt battery to a 36 volt system.

Welcome to the forum Mowerman1.......................

It depends what type of system you have. Year of cart and much more info needed. Someone will be with you when you supply the needed information.

It isn't practicle to add 1 battery to the pack. The stock charger won't finish off all of them if connected to 42v in series or you will need another 6v charger for the 7th one? It can be done but, from what I have heard it is not really worth it.
Now, add 2 and you got something!

Yea, add the 2-6v batteries. Just wire them in front of existing batteries or to the end. Use a 12v charger for the two extra batteries. Upgrade your solenoid to 48v and instant power. You'll be amazed at power increase. Your motor should handle 48v with no problem.
You said an 85 cart, so I'm assumming you have a resistor cart. That will accept a 12volt boost. If you have a controller cart, controller must match battery output.
