The short answer is connect it to 12 volts! That would be across two 6 volt batteries......

How about telling us what you've done so far and go from there.

Sorry can't resist! Set on the seat your done. It's on the cart!!!!

Ok now for the real help. This is newer E-Z-GO batteries.
The batteries are showing 12 volts between 2 of them and what the full amount should be.

Lightbulb Re: just wondering how to put a 12 volt horn on a 36 volt ezgo cart

Lets try this. Maybe this will help some.

RED Numbers: are Batteries in order of series.
Blue Numbers: are voltage as they increases to 36 volts.
Green Numbers: is 12 volts between 2 of the batteries.

Better but the polarity of the pack is the opposite of my cart.....My positive (36) is at the top right of you photo and all my negative leads are at the bottom right of your photo.....

Andy's batteries are installed correctly. Ezgo 36v all the Negative posts line up down the center of the pack.

Not what I said....He shows the first battery in line to be "6V" in the second photo.....It is actually 36V with respect to the last battery, at least on my cart and in his original photo he shows it correctly.

What I said is that the upper right post is +36V, and the lower right post is pack negative (-36v)......

I said "bottom right of your photo", not bottom of the batteries.....His photo cuts off the rest......

Question Re: just wondering how to put a 12 volt horn on a 36 volt ezgo cart

That's the way mine is to. But one battery only = 6 volts is what that is showing. Look at the Blue numbers. This is for finding the batteries to hook up 12 volts to. Vise versa if you leave the + of your meter on the top right battery and move the - of the meter to each battery it climbs by 6 volts until you reach 36 volts. As I have stated before the ground of a circuit determines what voltage the circuit is. Either way we are saying the same thing though.
I don't under stand the -36 volts thing though.

This is what I'm saying....the voltage increases for every battery, starting with the first battery which is the system return, or 0 volts.....That is the convention used throughout the world....Your photo doesn't show the Positive terminals at the bottom of the page so it gets a bit confusing for a novice to read (I think)...

Note here that the order is ascending to 36 VDC.....
