You should have the batteries in series before the fuse. Right now if the fuse blows, there is still 48V going to the system.

Thanks for noticing this! I need to move the positive jumper behind that fuse.

With that Chevy volt traction pack, so far I’ve built one Cart with 2 48 V modules. One with two 48 V modules modified with two extra sales each. And I plan to build two more carts with one 48 v pack each. (These will be modified with the two extra cells)

Nice. I have been running a 14S 120AH leaf pack for over 3 years now. It's in a Yamaha YDRE with Altrax controller and D&D motor. No problems so far.

This one connection will see full current draw and this needs to be a real good bite.
IMO this connection is subject to cause problems if not attached well.
Consider bolting them together with three long copper sleeves and use some 4-40 long screws to cinch the tabs together.
You would need to drill six holes but they are small for 4-40.
I don't think you can get that connection tight with just a zip tie on the pack.
Plus it will look real nice!

These are zinc plated brass and would work fine and should be easy to get.

Hey Dennis, can you post better pictures of how you did the connection on the Volt cells? I have a 3.1kwh volt cell that I had to add a connection mid-pack to get the 14s I was after, but that leaves 5 cells left over and unused. If I can figure a decent way to combine some of these to a 48v pack I can then have a 2p14s pack and good range.

Also, have you had any luck on a BMS for these? I have one from China, but no instructions and nothing is clear. Then it let all the magic smoke out so it went in the trash.

Zeva BMS16 (zeva.com.au)! It works great. I recommend getting the monitor too. If you choose Zeva and opt out of a monitor, get a 120 ohm resister.

Zeva works great with the CAN enabled TC charger.
