![]() I'm considering a lead acid to lithium conversion for a 2015 Yamaha Drive (YDREX5 model) and narrowed some Lithium battery brands down. Our Yamaha drive is DC, rather than the newer AC models. I would like to get some feedback on the new Trojan Battery - Lithium OnePack? This OnePack comes in a kit, in particular, is the single unit 48V 105AH. Has anyone installed, have first hand experience, and/or long term reviews for the performance, durability, longevity of these. Any user knowledge would be helpful. It seems they are fairly new so reviews are hard to find. There is also, a OnePack Extended Range, on the website. Thanks.

![]() No experience with these, but you can get a very reliable pack for about 1/3 off their price. See our site sponsors.

![]() No experience with these but the spec's look pretty good. 18 amps continuous, 300 amps for 30 seconds and 500 amps for 2 seconds. Seems a little heavy for a 48 volt pack compared to others at 120 lbs but it might have some robust cells inside.
Just a couple questions: will it fit in your battery tray? What does it cost compared to others? Do you know what your maximum discharge is? |

![]() Yes, the regular OnePack will fit in my battery tray. Dimensions are 12.6x21.4x8.6 in and it looks like I have roughly 14x32x10 in. Good question, because the OnePack extended range is 10.5 in tall, might be tight.
The quotes I'm getting probably average around $3000 before tax for the Trojan OnePack kit specific to Yamaha. I was quoted $350 to have it installed by them. I know I can find it online for slightly less, maybe $2700-2800, but I feel better about buying from a local dealer in the area; whereas, I have some place to speak with if any problems should occur. Locally, Eco Battery kit, is more like $2477 before tax. $2625 with tax and $2880 from them to install. I was quoted $3145 for the RoyPow. But I've emailed them many times about questions of what is recommended for my golf cart, and got zero responses. So, that makes me pause. These numbers are rough, but fairly accurate at this time. For the maximum discharge for the Yamaha Drive: I was told by Trojan Lithium rep. my Yamaha should be in the 250-300 amp max discharge rating. I got a call into Yamaha to try to get the actual spec. If anyone knows, feel free to chime in. Thanks. |

![]() It looks like there is roughly 12 inches of total height from the bottom of the battery tray to the seat, but the bracket will take away from that, so extended range could fit as well. My original 10 inch number was too conservative.

![]() The Eco rep is on here often (Ecochandler), message him with questions. They have a very good reputation and are sponsors of this site also. Stay away from Roypow.

![]() When I was pricing these last year, the best online price that I could find for the OnePack Bundle was $2685
See: https://www.thesolarbiz.com/catalogs...ult/?q=onepack As you suggest, it is certainly nice to buy local for the reasons you stated. Thanks for pointing out the OnePack Extended Range battery that Trojan recently started marketing. I was surprised to see that although the Amp-Hour Capacity has increased from 105 AH to 171 AH (a 63% increase), that the Maximum Continuous Discharge Current has only increases from 180 amps to 200 amps (only an 11% increase). I have to think that Trojan are under rating the Maximum Continuous Discharge Current, since it is usually directly proportional to the amp hour rating. You might want to consider doing some discharge current testing on your Yamaha Drive based on your actual driving conditions, as it not a specification that is normally published. Driving conditions such as hills, road surface, acceleration rate, weight of cart, temperature, etc. can all affect your amperage requirements. ![]() |

![]() Thanks for the info. Do you know how I can perform a discharge current test on my Yamaha Drive? I know my lead acid batteries are on their way out and it was shutting down on me a steep inclines. Just not enough juice. I called a local Yamaha Golf Cart, spoke with the Service center and the tech said to pull the back bagwell and look at the data label on the controller. It has some published data on it??

![]() Use a clamp style amp meter and clamp it on your positive battery cable. It should have a hold button to save your highest amp draw.

Likely they didn't want to change the BMS and that's the bottleneck for current draw. |
