Comet 780 Help
My clutch is spinning almost off the shaft. I do not have a bolt on the clutch to shaft because their doesnt seem to be a way that the bolt will hold the clutch on the shaft, because the bolt would be inside the hole in the clutch, it would not touch the clutch at all. Can someone please shine some light into this situation.

Re: Comet 780 Help
It sounds like you are missing the end cap. The end cap acts like a washer to keep the clutch held in place and a guide for the bolt. I don't know if I have a picture of the one I had on my 1190 clutch but just call the place you got it from and they will know exactly what you are talking about.

Re: Comet 780 Help
I do have what appears to be an end cap but where does it go?It looks like it goes on the front of the clutch but it wont stay, so I'm looking to varify that it goes their and a bolt will hold it on. If so it looks like it will need a large washer because the bolts that I have wont touch the end cap because the hole is to big. tell me if I'm wrong Thanks

Re: Comet 780 Help
Yes it goes on the outside and the bolt goes thru it. If your bolt head fits thru it use a washer but it shouldnt go thru that hole.

Re: Comet 780 Help
shawn - did you just use a stack of washers? I almost did that when my neighbor (and good friend) stopped by for a beer over the weekend. We hopped on our quads and drove down to his house, got a piece of round stock and he cut a bolt hole and then a nice fat shoulder for it to sit on.
Nice having a neighbor that can fabricate something like that in 15 minutes!!! |

Re: Comet 780 Help
yeah stack of washers on front and on the back. this way i could move the clutch in and out until I figured out where it needed to be. I need to go get a shorter bolt and remove some of the washers
