Default 1993 Yamaha G5 Oil problem

One of the pushrods popped out and when I went to put it back in place and adjust the valves I noticed the bracket that holds the rockers in place was badly worn. I ordered a new one so no problem there.

What worries me is the lack of oil under the valve cover, there seems to be none and I'm thinking that is what caused the bracket to wear out in the first place.

This is a one lung 4 cycle motor but I don't know how the oil pump works on these engines. Is there an actual oil pump or does the oil just get pumped up to the top by a slinger in the crankcase?

Is vacuum involved in the oiling process?

Any help would be appreciated.

No oil pump, just the slinger...

Check to see if the oil supply line is blocked. This hose carries the oil from the slinger up to the rocker arms.

It is on the back of the motor and I believe there is a check valve half way up the tube.
