Default Ezgo rear end

Have an 04 ezgo pds everything stock. Runs great but when I’m full speed and let off accelerator, rear makes a rattle/grind noise. Pulled the motor and I have some play in the splined thing that sticks out from rear end. Ideas or suggestions?

I had the same noise with my 2003 TXT. Either the splines on the input shaft from the differential or the splines in the motor are worn....or both. Mine did this with a new motor so I changed the input shaft too and it fixed the noise.....gone completely. I would start with the input and hope it fixes it. You can find them on Amazon or Ebay with the bearing already pressed on for about $70.00. Just make sure of you spline count and gear tooth count. Or maybe one of the experts on here has another idea.

Really appreciate the input. Ordered the input shaft today.

Make sure the differential has the proper amount of the correct lubricant. I had similar problem with my cart. Inspection of the differential did not reveal any reason for the noise except the lubricant was a little low and had a thin watery viscosity. Replaced lubricant put it all back together and no more noise.
