98 Club Car DS won't move
I have a 98 Club Car DS. The cart was completely dead. I checked the batteries and had two bad ones. I replaced all the batteries in the pack. I am getting 50.4 volts in the pack. The reverse buzzer works fine. When I press the accelerator, I hear a click, click and it does not move. I put my volt meter on both post of the solenoid and did not get any readings while depressing the accelerator.
I have the positive from the last battery connected to the solenoid. I have the other wire from the motor/controller connected to the negative of the first battery. I checked the wiring and it seems to be correct. What should I look at next? |

Re: 98 Club Car DS won't move
I checked the Solenoid by connecting my volt meter to the negative battery terminal and the battery side of the solenoid. I get 8.37 volts. When I test from one solenoid post to the other, I get 1.5 volts. When I press on the accelerator and check between the solenoid post, I get a click and not reading on my volt meter. Any thoughts?

Are you volt checking the two small terminals or the two large terminals on the solenoid? If the two large terminals [motor voltage] only have 8 volts, there is a very loose connection somewhere. If it is the smaller terminals [control voltage] there is a problem with the control wiring from the key switch, micro switch, run/ tow switch if you have one, forward/ reverse switch, etc. It could just be a bad solenoid. None of your volt readings make sense but I may be reading you wrong. Give any more information you can and someone will follow up with you. |

Re: 98 Club Car DS won't move
I checked the ohms on the solenoid. Here is what I got:
two big bolts: 56 ohms when in neutral two small bolts: 0 ohms when in neutral two big bolts: .1 ohms when in forward/reverse two small bolts: 0 ohms when in forward/reverse I will post the model # later today. The cart beeps when I put it in reverse. My pack still has over 50volts. |

Re: 98 Club Car DS won't move
You can't test ohms when the circuit is powered, so that really doesn't tell you anything. That used to blow up meters, but the newer ones have some protection built in.
Testing Voltage is the best method of checking a circuit that is powered. Put your red meter lead on the positive cable at the solenoid post (the one that comes from the Battery +). Black meter lead on the B- terminal of the controller, or Pack main negative cable. Tell us what voltage you get. Then test again with Key On, cart if F or R, and pedal pressed. Do you get the Same voltage? Should be the same, or within 1v of the previous reading. Can you post a picture of the battery compartment? So we can make sure all of your connections are correct? Did you re-use the old battery cables? Often the old cables are corroded or damaged internally and after they've been moved around during the battery change they break internally and won't allow current to pass through. |

Re: 98 Club Car DS won't move
Positive cable at the solenoid post to pack negative resulted in 49 volts.
When I tested again with the Key On, cart in F, and pedal pressed, I got the same reading. I did re-use the old battery cables. Attached are pictures. |

Can you get us a better photo of all the batteries?
Have you charged the batteries? |

With your meter on the 2 small terminals of the solenoid...Key on..in forward ..pedal pressed...Do you have pack voltage...
