Default 1991 club car gas, gas pedal won't engage engine?

Hey guys, very new to this forum,

I've got a 1991 club car that I put away for the winter. I pulled it out, changed the head gasket, and tried firing it up, but no action from the gas pedal?
I have power to solenoid, I had the engine going by connecting the solenoid posts, so I know it's not the engine, it's electrical. I'm guessing it's one of the two switches that engage from the pedal? But I'd like to rule that out before I go ordering parts.

Any ideas?

Anyone have this issue ?

much appreciated,

Power at the large posts of the solenoid does not mean power from the pedal is reaching the activation side of the solenoid.

Here's a wiring diagram. When you took your motor apart, did you hook the chassis grounds back up when you put it all back together?

ok, with the gas pedal pushed in, it throttles the engine, but also when pressed releases two switches. When working properly these switches released are supposed to start the engine.

Is there a way of testing or process of elimination?

or should I just order two new switches and see if that solves my problem?

Is your cam (yellow plastic part) in the correct position? This is what it should look like in neutral.

all grounds are good...I put a little wire on the FORWARD AND REVERSE switch while testing the other switches.
still no luck. I will tinker with it some more...

springbok, your photo is of the forward reverse lever, which I am not having an issue. In the solenoid box there are two switches, when you accelorate the gas pedal, the gas pedal cable pulls away from the paralell switches andreleases them. This is when the engine should kick on.

What he is getting at is that if one of the switches on the forward reverse lever are bad the cart won't think its in gear and not fire. "I think"

ah i see...I've found the problem guys, it's the solenoid. After having everything out apart and cleaned, I put back together to continue my process of elimination, I tapped on the solenoid, like I would a starter, and then it worked. But did not continue to work. After tapping on it again it worked.
So I will replace the solenoid, thanks to all for the input, and thanks for your time!
cheers
