Default Wheel spacers for better stability and cool look

Another user TropicFury pointed me towards 2" wheel spacers:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MWHXI5S ($113)

These feel high quality and are made of aluminum and were super easy to install and give the cart a 4" overall width increase. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something to add.

For me, I noticed better stability (esp at speed) and less dipping when going around turns sharply. I only installed them on i60L and i40L this weekend, so I'm still driving around on them, but there is definitely a subtle, but noticeable improvement in the way it drives for me.

It also more prominently displays the red on the front brake calipers and gives it a better look in my opinion.

Install is very easy and here's a picture where you can see how it works. It's just a big donut that slides over your existing lugs and you tighten it down through the holes with a 19mm socket using the supplied lugs, then you put the tire back on over the new studs and use your previous lugs. You want to make sure you use the correct lugs on inside vs outside because the factory lugs are better looking.

From the ICON manual - wheel nut tightening torque:
80 Nm, 8.0 m/kg (58 ft/Ib)

Install is quick & easy. 4 lugs per wheel plus 4 lugs per spacer means you'll have to tighten 32 lugs, so a power tool makes things go faster.

Can you send a pic of the whole cart with the spacers on?

Here are some pics I took this morning. It's subtle, but noticeable I think, especially showing more of the red front calipers.

One thing I should make clear is I drive my golf cart nearly daily, and I use it the same as most of you probably use your car and I live in an area that I can grocery shop, go to bars/restaurants, etc with my golf cart.

That said, I personally notice it feels more stout/stable. Going around turns quickly, there's noticeably less dip. Some turns I take quickly that have a grade, I would find myself using my other arm to hold on to the seat because I could feel my body getting kind of pulled away from the turn (centrifugal force), which is still there, but it doesn't feel like I'm getting dumped out of the cart anymore. Going down steep hills, I can hit 35mph and it feels more "in control" than before...previously the i60L felt squirrely and any slight turn/adjustment at speed would really move the entire cart in a wobbly way. Now it's just more stable.

If you drive on flat roads, not as frequently as I do, and don't really go fast or anything...it may be more cosmetic for you. I will say I have not had a lot of people on the cart yet, but I would assume it will feel better.

Nice! I've noticed the cart gets pretty wavy when I'm at full capacity. I ordered them yesterday, especially now that I've increased the speed setting. Will post pics as well.

Atrain,

Thanks for the information re: spacers

On ICON i60l

I measured distance between front wheels and distance between rear wheels...the rear wheels are spaced further apart (3.5 - 4").

Is the goal to widen the overall stance by installing a 2" spacer on all 4 wheels?
(Even if the 4" gap remains front wheels vs rear wheels)

Or to only widen the space of the narrower distance on my front wheels (by installing spacers) to match the wider distance on the rear wheels?

Thanks for any feedback!
Dave

Looks great Atrain....thanks for posting..

As I40 have no wheel well flares as of yet...the extenders would
leave the tires protruding beyond the carts body..allowing dirt/mud
to splatter all over...

Hopefully ICON will come up with flares for the non lifted carts

Thanks Atrain

The goal for me was all 4 wheels +2" per wheel. I haven't measured the rear vs front width difference, but I'll take your word for it...had no idea.

Everything just feels wider without being too wide. Nearly every morning I get breakfast at a place where there's a steep ramp and turn and I just notice it feels better going around that turn.

I'm a daily driver though, so not sure if it's worth it for everyone. The look is worth it I think though. My buddy (also daily driver) has the same ones and he loves them too.

Glad you like them! Definitely feels much more stable, especially if you have set your RPMs to 6000+. It makes the cart look more aggressive in a good way too.

I stripped a rear lug stud and nut while putting spacers on. Hoping these are replaceable? Anyone know?
