shudders and jerks... not me, the ezgo.....
Afternoon folks.
I have an '80's era ezgo utility vehicle. it spent most of its life on a North Carolina golf course. I have had it about 10 years. Runs good, or did, until the last few months. What it does now: when i depress the gas, it hesitates, then jerks pretty badly as it turns over. Eventually it straightens our, but continues to do the jerking with each start. It has good gas, and a fresh battery charge... any ideas? thanks m |

sounds like either the drive clutch , driven clutch or belt i would start with the belt.

Re: shudders and jerks... not me, the ezgo.....
thanks for the help folks.
Belt was loose and I corrected that. Now the next issue! I press the gas pedal and find that "sweet spot" where it fires, but if I press the pedal further to speed up she just sputters out. Choking helps of course, but do i need a carb adjustment? m |

There is no adjustment on the BV series carburetor other than the slow speed bypass screw which will have no effect on your problem. It sounds like your main jet is partially blocked. I suggest that you remove the carburetor and then remove the jet and the nozzle and give them a real good clean. You can use a little copper wire as copper is softer than the jet orifice and will not damage it.
