Default Alltrax programming

Has anyone programmed an Alltrax DCX controller with the Windows 8 version? And if so, did you run into any problems? Thanks for any help.

Cg, I'm assuming it'll work w/ the Windows 7 then? I don't have that version, I figured the W 8 was going to be a pain to work with. I can't seem to get it to recognize my controller.

I think the program is windows 8 compatible ..... Did you have the LED lighted up on the control BEFORE you open the program? This is the most common mistake people make.

Yea Scotty, it was, we're going to try it a different way tomorrow. I've sent the downloads to his email so he can put them on his laptop(his is Vista) hopefully they'll work a little better on his. He's done it alot with his laptop.

yes

These steps will not work with programs that are part of Windows, like Paint or Windows Media Player, or with apps you get from the Windows Store.

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)

2.Enter the name of the program in the search box, press and hold (or right-click) the search result, and then tap or click Open file location.

3.Press and hold (or right-click) the program icon, tap or click Properties, and then tap or click the Compatibility tab.

4.Select one or more of the settings (see the table below for more info).

Compatibility mode

Runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Try this setting if you know the program is designed for (or worked in) a specific previous version of Windows.

5.If you want to apply the settings for that program to all accounts on the PC, tap or click Change settings for all users. Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

6.When you're done, tap or click OK.

I have the gigaware usb/serial adapter and eventually got it to work on the Windows 8 laptop I'm borrowing from a friend. It was a PITA - took about 2 hours of searching the net, looking at forums and what not to find the appropriate drivers. Nonetheless, persistence prevailed.

Crash, for some reason my laptop doesn't have compatibility mode. Hadn't had much of a chance to try to much this past weekend.
