Default 36v to 48v conversion EZ-Go

Yesterday I finished my 36v to 48v conversion in my 1991 Marathon...and now it doesn't work.

Went through troubleshooting and I have narrowed it down to the potentiometer, I get input voltage but no output voltage. Do I need a 48v potentiometer? Could have I smoked it somehow?

Update.

I remembered I had another microswitch from a junk cart I had parted out. Put it in and voila the cart moves.

However Immediately upon pushing the accelerator for the first time I blew the diode? that jumped between the small terminals on the solenoid.

I had transferred both jumpers (one between small terminals and one between large terminals) I had on the 36v solenoid to the new 48v one. Do I need 48v versions of these jumpers or are they no longer needed or is just the one jumping the small terminals no longer needed?

Careful now - you better get a full grip on what you are trying to do or you may do costly damage to the system or yourself.

The resistor and diode are needed for the longevity of the solenoid and the controller. The diode is polarity sensitive you may have installed it backwards.

I very well could have installed it backwards, I didn't realize it was polarity sensitive so I didn't pay that much attention.

Well I had a spare and put it in making sure of the polarity this time. Works like a charm.

Thanks Scotty :)

No problem - Sparks and hydrogen gas mix with disastrous results
