Default Need help wiring Textron motor

I need some help with my EZGO Textron D-C motor. It was a mess when I got the cart. The brushes were all missing, so I have no legacy to show me where the new brush connections should go. The commutator end cap has four rectangular opening with square plastic insulators in them. The openings are stamped, in order from left to right, A1. S2, A2, S1. I understand that the brush pairs sit opposite each other in the brush rigging mount. I just don't know which of the lettered/numbered openings in the end cap the wires/contacts should go to? I have the diagram from the 89-91 EZGO Service Manual, but it is not clear where the wires/contacts go on the end cap. I don't want to mess this up and blow the motor up. Any help is appreciated. Here are a couple of pictures of my motor:

A1 and A2 will go to the brushes. S1 and S2 will go to the can and the wires that surround the armature.

KGSC - again thanks for your help. I got it back together and tested it - it runs! First time this cart has run in probably at least 5 years. Still lots of work to do, but - it RAN!

Here's what it looked like when I got it at auction a month ago:
