Default flip flop no convertible rear seat

Well started out I needed a flipflop seat for the kids and carrying stuff. Found out the cheapest is $300, I ain't pay'n that for no dern seat, so I started gathering the pcs (got all but the seat back cover).

Loaded my dad's buggy on my trailer to go hunting. Well the foot platform sticks well over the side (loaded it cross ways). So I decided my seat need to have the foot platform fold up also. So I get that sketched up and start looking and thinking and thinking, etc. Decided that was to much headache.

I'll just make a frame for the seat and get a hitch extender and put a platform on it, boom done. As a fella once told me "ya it sounds easy if you say it fast"

If you want the simple way out go buy it. BUT there's a lot of satisfaction in designing and building it yourself. I've got maybe 70-80 bucks in it. The lumber and steel didn't cost me anything.

I know its useless w/out pic so here's a bunch.

I wanted eveything as low as possible so I built a new bumper so that the platform would be level with the bagwell.

I wanted the seat to be easily removed but didn't want to fool with any pins or bolts or something to forget about and loose it while trailering. So I put a catch on the front side and a screen door hinge on the back to act as a catch.

cut the bag rack off and rewelded the support to the front seat support, also leaned the front seat back forward an inch or so (can't tell the differance). Removed and rebent the top supports to fit the new angle.

I got the platform idea from hitch hauler infact was going to buy a small one for it but couldn't find one that didn't have to be modified anyway. So I decided on the hitch extender and I'd get metal to weld on it. As I was deciding on the material list that needed to be puchased I decided to hell with the metal I'll slap some 2x's on it, got plenty of them.

Anytime I've been on one of the rear seats it always felt like you were going to slide off the back and couldn't brace yourself very well. So I put on a foot rest and made the platform just over 14". Now I can put most on the platform and don't have to lift it up as high as the seat. Eventually I'll make a flat bed to easily exchange with the seat, stick out as far as the platform and be supported by it.

I was just sayin that because most of the rear flip flop seat kits leave a larger gap between the seat backs, and tend to move the rear seat back too much out for the rear passengers, causing them to kinda sit on the edge of the seat.

Ya that's what I was trying to defeat, they also sit higher because of the doubled platform
