Typical mph increase switching to 23" tires
I just picked up an 06 precedent and put new Trojans in it and it goes 19 mph now.
Curious what just lifting it and 23s would gain me.. I'm guessing about 5 or 6 mph?? |

Re: Typical mph increase switching to 23" tires
23" tires at 24.3 MPH is equal to 18" tires at 19.0MPH. That doesn't mean you'll definitely reach that speed. You have to factor in the fact that the tires are heavier and require the motor and controller to work harder to reach the same RPM it was reaching with 18" tires on it. It may do it, it may not. But don't be surprised if it doesn't.

And if you live where you have hills you have to go up. You won't be happy.

If you want speed install a speed magnet.

Re: Typical mph increase switching to 23" tires
Given that it's going 19 mph on stock tires is it safe to assume it's on speed code 5 and a magnet wont gain me anything?

Re: Typical mph increase switching to 23" tires
With a speed magnet you could increase your speed to 25 mph. Depending on condition of cart. Your results may vary. BTW your on speed code 4. Speed code 5 is an after market gizmo.

Re: Typical mph increase switching to 23" tires
A speed magnet will double the allowed RPM limit of your motor. A speed code will limit it to 19.6MPH on 18" tires, which will be slightly higher on 23" tires. On a lifted cart, a speed code and a magnet will yield very similar results considering you're pushing the physical limits of the cart to reach the max RPM allowed by the speed code. Having a higher cap on speed will do you no good if you can't reach it.

Re: Typical mph increase switching to 23" tires
So I decided to go with 22 inch tires so as not to lose quite as much torque.
I had a ds with a custom d and d motor and 650 alltrax that was a beast. I dont care much for crazy top speed because my streets are terrible with ditches on each side, but I love having torque.. If when I put the backseat and lift and 22s if I feel the need for more torque can I get away with just a controller or do I need a motor as well?? |
