I need a 100uf diode that will handle the voltage of my main battery pack (48 volts)? Any suggestions on what kind(brand) to use?

No...slight misunderstanding. You need a relay AND a diode....the 100uf capacitor is optional but reccomended.

In that diagram there is a "100uf capacitor" across the main terminals of the boost solenoid. What the cap is for is to help prevent contact arcing. The kilovac czonka relays I use have this built in. Those Czonka relays have proven to me to be bulletproof. They cost about double what a HD cart relay cost but are well worth it. With that being said I dont see a problem with using an HD cart relay for 48 volts......remember Muaythia and I are running 72 and 108 volts. .

In the diagram the diode is just above the M- terminal. That symbol is the symbol for a diode.

The relay is a Kilovac Czonka III part number EV200AAANA. They can be found at www.alliedelec.com

The diode I use is rated for 400 volts and 300 amps. The diodes function is to protect the controller from voltage feeding back into it when boost is engaged.

The diode part number I use is 300U40A. Also can be found at www.alliedelec.com

I revised the diagram a little. Added text to point out what the components are.

Thanks roady, I completely missed the diode mark on your diagram(sometimes my brain takes a break during the summer, hopefully it comes back before that electrical systems class this fall), knew it was necessary but wasn't sure where to place it. The relay was obvious, kinda hard to miss those. I plan on running a 24 volt boost so that'll be 72 volts.
Isn't a relay that can handle 2200 volts a little overkill?

Thanks for all the help, now I just need to get the time to do this.

Not at all. ....I would rather have overkill than a stuck relay. 2 HD solenoids cost as much as 1 Czonka, you do the math. The first relay we used was a brand new HD white rodgers......it lasted less than a week. Melted the contacts shut. (Keep in mind it was a 48 volt solenoid on 108 volts.) Swapped in a czonka and its been in use for almost a year with no heat related signs. If I ever buy another cart solenoid it will only be because I cant get ahold of a kilovac relay.

Tungpo, if you are going to build one, and you need the diode, I have a few extras.
