Default Battery "Epsom Salt" Treatment

I've read a number of threads here about extending the life of batteries by doing this, some with luck and others without.

What do you guys think of this and why would you have to wait until the Batteries are almost done before doing it ?

I have '05 (C5) batteries on my cart that I got yesterday and after playing with it today, I think I'll be buying new Batteries sooner than later because they didn't seem to last very long or as long as I was expecting. Why shouldn't I do this "treatment" now ?

This is a topic that just won't die! If something sounds too good to be true...
If it worked well I think it is all anyone here would chat about.....

How long should I be able to ride with 20" tires if the batteries are good ? I'm guessing I rode 3 1/2 to 4 miles today at a average speed (not wide open) and the battery meter was getting very low.

How much should I expect to pay for new Batteries ?

Good batteries should take you 10 miles.....Of course your mileage may vary due to terrain and other variable factors.

As for the battery cost issue, Sams Club sells Interstate 6 volts for 67 bucks each in Houston TX. Trojans go for 100 bucks each. I haven't checked my local Napa, although I do like doing business with Napa.

Sam's batteries are not as good as Trojans. Please compare quality along with price. My 2 cents - but I wouldn't use Sam's batteries in anything I was going to keep...

Yeah although I enjoy Interstate batteries in my car/truck, the Trojans ARE heavier, which in turn means more lead, which from what I understand is mas capacitance of power. But, sometimes that extra 120 bucks comes in handy...

So I'm looking at $410 or so for Sam's interstate batteries or $500 plus for more Trojans ?

It's been proven time and time again. A properly maintained trojan battery will give many years of service.(any good battery will) Trojans will Most likely outlive ANY of the cheaper batteries possibly by twice the lifespan. Most people look at the "Now" price while not looking at the "later" price. (like yourself) You might just end up spending more for the cheaper battery in the long run....It's all up to you and what your pocketbook can stand
