Motor terminal orientation
Howdy boys! I'm upgrading my 94 medalist to a 650A alltrax with the AMD high torque motor. My question is how should the motor terminals be orientated? The stock motor terminals were at 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock and I installed the new motor the same way. Just doesn't seem right to me. The cart wont ever be submerged (on purpose) but there will be water and mud splashing around.

Re: Motor terminal orientation
The correct way is whatever works best for you.
My original motor was factory installed with the terminals facing upwards. (about 11 & 1 o'clock). so that is how I installed my aftermarket motor. |

Re: Motor terminal orientation
YEP, someone obviously in the past removed your motor and rotated it 90 Deg. personally, I would put them on the top, if for no other reason than easy access.

Re: Motor terminal orientation
I rotated mine to avoid it hitting my relocated controller.

Re: Motor terminal orientation
Motor is rotated and I'm happy with it. Also happy with its performance. The torque I expected but I'm surprised and impressed at the increase in speed. It's more than I expected! Gotta get her back out tomorrow and adjust on the front suspension a little more and maybe knock the Accel down a bit. Thanks fellas!

Re: Motor terminal orientation
If you're worried about the terminals getting wet, don't be, Submerged is another thing, but golf carts are often driven in dew wetted courses and in the rain, and wet is no problem. Submerged may be a problem, but rotation won't help with that. Pure water is a very poor conductor, but creeks aren't often "pure".

Re: Motor terminal orientation
Wet was a concern as was sticks and branches hanging up in the motor leads. It happened more than few times before the lift kit was installed. That shouldn't be a problem any more. Here in Alabama our creek water is as pure bottled water

Re: Motor terminal orientation
A lift kit will NOT raise your motor. Only taller tires will.
