Unhappy 1984 EZGO oil injector died Options? Engines kinda loose now :\

well heres the deal. i got this old girl from a buddy of mine. The Troddle cables where broke. so i replaced them and replaced the fuel line and filters. It had been siting for 7 months before i got it. and i am not sure how long before my buddy got it. So anyways. I fired it up and it ran decently. so i been driveing it around my little town and now its stalling and acting like its starving for fuel. So I check the pump...it works good...so i replace the spark plug.....checks good. then when it was turning over it sounded kinda....well...free....so i checked the oil pump...it wasent injecting. Also i cleaned out the carb.....forgot to say that. Anyways...so i think the motors well...shot....so i am debating on puting a newer 4 stroke engine in it. my questions are... should i rebuld this old *** motor...or should i go out and put a newer engine in it? And if i do...whats the crank size? and about how long is it? it just died tonite...so yeah..i havent broke into anything yet XD

i am wanting to run the vari system in it

thanks

Most here have removed the injector and mix the oil in the gas tank. 128 to 1 I believe is the correct mix. I know sounds lean but that is what is called for.

Take a compression reading before any decision.
You may only need a top end and seals.

Alright i will check it out. what is the head gasket material? is it like a small engine head gasket or a automotive one. because i might pull the head off if its low. and see if theres a blown spot.

It's a tapered shaft engine on the clutch side much like a generator motor with no key just a tapper fit. If you do decide to go the briggs route please go to the BIG BLOCK forums and you will find all the information you'll need there. This is what they do there! I will add that if you go that route you will loose reverse and have forward only unless you change rearends.Rebuilding your engine is the best solution affordable and will run circles around most carts. It's your call but all the help you need is here at BGW Thanks Enjoy
