SLO MO Club Car-can't get out of its oun way
1998 Club Car, 48 volt with Trojan batteries about 2 years old. I maintain the batteries well and my cables look to be in good shape, with no corrosion, and they seem to accept a charge OK.
About a week ago my cart suddenly lost all torque--low speed acceleration was gone. Now it will barely climb the slightest grades, and acceleration is VERY slow If on flat ground it will slowly get up to 15mph ( a little slower than before) but loses speed at any grade. I did not suspect the batteries since it started happening suddenly and was not a gradual deterioration of performance. When starting off , it's like it is stuck in high gear----if it had a high gear---very sluggish. What do you think? |

Hello sherco and Welcome to the forum.
Check the Solenoid. Thats a fairly common problem with solenoids. |

Time to Drag out the ol Volt meter !
Measure the pack voltage , Charge completely Wait 1 hour then measure the voltage of all Batteries seperate Measure the Voltage (across all Batteries) Read and compare http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html |

Is it likely (or possible) that a battery would fail overnight -- i.e.-running fine one day, then slo-mo the next ?

Re: SLO MO Club Car-can't get out of its oun way
OK, I'm not the greatest when it comes to things electrical, but I put a muliti meter on each battery and they all came in at 8.4-8.5 volts, and the entire string of batteries showed 51.2 volts. Cables are tight, so I guess the next thing to check is the solenoid.
Where do I find the solenoid and how do I check it? Cart ser #9943-818572 and the cord has a round plug with three prongs inside---if that helps. Thanks....,.FJN |

Your cart is getting newer by the day a 1999 insted of 1998.
The solinoid is just behind the passanger side seat and can be accessed through the Top rear service Panel behind the seats. Wiring Diag http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-diagrams.html third from the top. |
