Sounds like a clutch problem. With the rear of the cart jacked up (use safety stands), run the cart in neutral and see if the front clutch pulls the belt all the way to the top and the rear clutch opens moving the belt all the way to the bottom. Also watch the engine to see if it moving back. You could also have some bad engine mounts. And check the tention cable under the air box, it may be broken and allowing the engine to move back to far under load.

Sounds like a power transmission problem for sure. Could be the secondary clutch stuck in the open position. You can put the cart in nuetral. Ref the engine and watch the belt. The front clutch should close and the back clutch open. If you don't see this happen you have a problem in the clutch that is not moving. Could also be belt slippage which could come from several things. Engine moving back, worn belt, of clutch problems. If it is not there is could be in the gearbox itself.
Good Luck!!

If it is not getting warm I would start by checking the spark first. It's easy to check in a dark room or late evening. If the spark is good it has to be the gas or compression. Check the spark and let me know what you find.
