Harley Golf Oil Bath Air Filter Conversion
My 1970 Harley Davidson Golf cart has a Oil Bath style Air Filter. Has anyone ever converted the oil bath to a modern day paper filter style or know if there be any issues doing so? Considering converting as part of restoration or leaving as is.

Re: Harley Golf Oil Bath Air Filter Conversion
I checked by using the "forum search tool" and looked foe "air filter".
In the results there is a thread called "gas leak" that has a K&N filter conversion with discussion and pictures. Good luck |

There should be no issues except mechanical.

Re: Harley Golf Oil Bath Air Filter Conversion
Fyi... on my '66, Im going to experiment with a few different things and I'll report back my findings. I've talked to 4-5 legit mechanics and they've all agreed the current "oil soaked" filter is over kill and a PITA to maintain. Im not going to be on gravel roads or off roading much, so Im more worried about keeping the chunks out. One mechanic suggested to wrap a lightly oiled cloth around the opening in the arm where the current filter sits (remove current filter housing completely), and hold it on with a zip tie.
I'll chime in after some testing. One thing for sure I'm not keeping the current system. |

I'm about to service the Air Cleaner in my '71. It's probably an Oil Bath original. I only have about 10 hours on it since I bought it.

If you can find the factory paper canisters it should mount right up. They frequent eBay.
