Since the Plasti-dip is "removable" do you still sand the body or do you skip that part?

Just wanted to put in my two cents. I have a Hummer H3 and just plastidipped the rims and grille. I've done hours and hours of research on it and even contacted some people. If you sand your base, then when and if you peal it off you will have sanded base. I just shot my rims and grille and since I did it about a week ago, I've been offroading and washed it a couple times and no peeling. Not saying sanding wouldnt help, it prob would but I didn't want to take the gloss away from my rims. I used 2 1/2 cans to do all of that and this weekend I'm pretty sure I'm plastidipping the CC if the wife lets me but like they say: "Its easier to ask for forgiveness then permission"

What kind of prep is involved if you do not sand?

I should clarify my answer. If we are talking about a plastic cart body that has seen better days then by all means repair any scratches, cracks etc and sand.

If we are talking a new body or wheels or other parts that are in good shape and you are just wanting to color change then prep work is just a good wash and make sure it is 150% dry. Any moisture will cause bubbles

I wiped everything done thoroughly with rubbing alcohol a couple of times. The stuff actually sticks pretty quickly without sanding but if your carts in bad shape to begin with then I agree with Jay...sand it to smooth out everything. If its not smooth, Plastidip won't cover it unless I guess you put alot of coats on it. My grille I did because it was cracked and screwed up in a few places, plastidip covered it but didn't cover it up.

No not at all the body is printed mossy oak I just wanted stripes for the weekend lol. I just made sure it was dry and dust free
