All I meant by impractical is that it has lousy heat in the winter, no a/c in the summer, is not great for long trips, and has little cargo space, etc.

I've owned many air cooled VW's over the years and very few of them had decent heat due to messed up heat exchangers or welded up vent holes caused by floor repairs. As for AC, the only option I recall was the old swamp cooler. It was ok if you didn't mind looking as though you had a surface to air missile strapped to the roof but they only worked when you were going faster than 60 mph. Since most of the older ones I owned kind of struggled to cruise faster than that it was more useful as a topic of conversation than a practical tool.

FC.

Got the donor car today. A small step, but it's progress.

I'm pretty far from Virginia, maybe 1500 miles. So that probably won't work out, sorry.

Monday I met with the guy who will be doing the fiberglass & paint work on the project. We decided to try shrinking a full size dune buggy body rather than growing the kiddie ride body. This is the body I'm picking up on Saturday. Then the slicing/chopping/sectioning begins.
