Relay controlled by key switch???
Is there a way to control a relay from the key switch. Thought I had it last night but the starter kept running until I turned the key off.
Want the radio and lights to go off when the key is off. |

Re: Relay controlled by key switch???
Intersting that you asked this because I recently did this mod on a V-Twin set-up, since I had to replace the whole electrical system. There are two things you can do:
1. Hook up your additional accesories to the solenoid (second best, don't really recommend), or 2. Use the solenoid as the 'trigger' for the relay (hook up a cable from the + switched terminal on top of the Solenoid to the relay. Use a voltmeter or some kind of tester to test this. Then hook up your battery and the rest of the accesories to the relay (best)... use a truck relay rated 20 amps or better. Not more than $5 at you local car shop. Keep us posted... |
