Cart shutting down unexpectedly
I have had the cart out riding for the last couple of days. One time each day traveling at a moderate speed it shut down. Immediately after it shut down I excellerated and it took off not to do it again. What could be causing this? The cables are clean and tight the only thing I can think of out of the ordinary is it is hot and humid. There are no smells of burning or anything, odd. Has anyone ever had this happen? If so, what was the problem.

Re: Cart shutting down unexpectedly
Please try to give as much info as you can when asking for help. Info like year or any modifications like big tires or aftermarket control or motor make a big difference? If the cart is stock put that in the Q also. Thanks.

Re: Cart shutting down unexpectedly
My cart is a stock 2001 EZ GO, PDS, 36v with stock wheels and tires. I have new Trojan batteries and I mainly run on flat to rolling hill terrain. I never run all out for long periods of time but a fair amount of stopping and starting in town. I hope this helps.

Re: Cart shutting down unexpectedly
sounds like the controller is going in to thermal shutdown, the PDS carts do not like running around slow for long with the stock contorller , the controller shuts down, and when it cools off it will go again, it will only do this for a little while, and then the controller will give up, and you will need to replace it, Scottyb has some controller packages that will help you out, if the controller is the problem

Re: Cart shutting down unexpectedly
So are you saying I should excellerate more? I read somewhere on here it was not good for carts to go all out for extended periods of time, maybe they were talking about carts with upgrades (lifts, big tires).

Re: Cart shutting down unexpectedly
If it immediately starts up again, as you say, then it is likely the solenoid dropping out. This will cut power and pressing the gas will re-energize the coil. I would try a new solenoid. If you are going to buy one, get a HD 200a unit. It will work now and later when you want to upgrade...
