Default adding 8 volt to 6 volt system

i have a 36 volt system that i want to change all batteries to new, I spoke with a guy today at the golf shop and he said he can put 6 new batteries and two of the six will be 8 volt batteries giving me more like 40 volts. for more speed
Is this ok or can it harm the motor and controller?
I am ordering a new emp motor too...
?????

If he is willing to replace the controller when it goes poof, then sure go for it. I have no idea how you are gonna charge a 40v cart.......

His theory is OK (more voltage = higher speed), but his technique is lacking.

Just do it right the first time. Dont beat around the bush go 48v. 6-8volts or 8-6 volts.

To convert to 48v you need :
48v Controller
36 or 48v solenoid rated high enough for the controller and system draw.
Cable system & F&R switching capable of delivering the higher voltage and amperage
A 48v Charger
