To bypass OBC or not....
I am at a crossroads of replacing my batteries and would like to keep them in a healthy state for as long as possible. I have read that the OBC on the club car isn’t the most proficient at appropriate charging algorithms. Should I bypass and purchase a smart charger or wait till the OBC dies?

Re: To bypass OBC or not....
Another alternative, seeing that you are up for the cost of batteries anyway is to think about going Lithium. Put the cost of a set of flooded batteries and a smart charger toward a set of Lithium batteries and a Lithium charger, You'll be much better off in the long run. NoleFan4Ever and others can help you a great deal.
Look at the Lithium sub forum. |

Re: To bypass OBC or not....
No you don't have to have one, but you will get a longer and better performance from your pack with a smart charger. I got 10 years out my last set with an OBC and casual neighborhood usage. I have gone Lithium on that cart now, but my OBC was still good.
As Yawood stated, Lithium is a good alternative. |
