You would think if it were in the rear end (differential) it would do it under acceleration too. That is what ponders me more than anything. But you did the other stuff, so I go in to the rear end and start breaking it down. If you are fortunate enough to have another laying around, just bolt it up and prove the obvious. If it does or you do not have one, then just start breaking it down and look at the complete assembly with a lot of attention on the gears. If you broke a tooth on the trailing side, you would not feel it under acceleration but you would on deceleration and more so when braking. It could also be associated with one of the shafts or bearing assemblies so the best thing is get into it.
