Default Briggs 16hp needing help

So upon searching for a new motor for the workhorse I might just get a short block and swap everything over from an old vanguard that I have around. I have a few questions regarding the swap of parts and into the cart.

I have a 303400 model engine. It has 16hp etc. How big of a motor can I go with still being able to swap everything from my old motor to my new one?
This is what I am thinking about getting unless you guys have a better idea:

Will the new motor just bolt into the original spot in the workhorse?

What modifications will I need to make to the cart?
