2012 Precedent battery (?) issue
Hello all. I am new to the forum. We recently bought a 2012 Precedent with supposedly new batteries, and it won't last more that about a half hour on a full charge. It has a battery gauge, and it quickly drops to about half, then jerks when the throttle is pressed to full and dies shortly after that. I've checked the water in the batteries and it is good. I've also checked all the connections and they are good. Could it be a bad voltage regulator? Did I just get screwed buying used and trusting that the batteries are really new? The manufacture date isn't on the top or the post, and I haven't pulled one yet to look elsewhere.

"The batteries are new" One of the three great lies. Anyway measure your battery voltage after charging and letting them rest for 24hrs after coming off the charger. Let us know what voltage you have. What kind of batteries do you have.

Report back with the date stamp which can be found on the battery terminal.

What kind of batteries are they? Different manufacturers put their date stamps in different locations.

Take a voltage reading of the pack voltage after charging. Report. Results will be given in feedback after posting this.

I'm working out of town but I'll see if I can walk my wife through measuring the voltage this evening. I'll report back then. Thanks everyone!

Re: 2012 Precedent battery (?) issue
Finally got the voltage checked. It was 49.1 after charging, and dropped to 45.9 after 24 hours. Is that to steep of a drop?

Yes, my guess is the batteries are old and shot. Did you ever get the date code off the batteries and what brand are they?

45.9 Volts after 24 hours with no vehicle operation? That's way low.

Re: 2012 Precedent battery (?) issue
There is no date stamped on the post. When I get back home I'll have to pull a battery and look for a date. it sounds like we got hosed by trusting that the batteries had been replaced.
