They must be bundled together with rigid plates on their "wide sides". We have the plates cut to stick up above the tops of the cells to give a place to mount the plastic cover & it has holes at each corner for "handles" (they're a little tough on the fingers & it is not a one person job). The early 80ah packs didn't have the top part but did have plates.

Cgtech, what did you guys do, or do you guys do, when you build new prismatic cell packs for customers?
It's a good idea to properly contain prismatic cellls. You should be able to buy the metal cages from the supplier to build your pack in 4 cell groups. Series/Parallel those as needed to build your total pack.

A buddy of mine prefers the 18650 LiFePO4 cells because the cell shape is self reinforcing, requiring no cell cage. Half the weight of prismatic but a LOT more cells to parallel to build up the ampacity. I may be old school but having that many potential failure points in a lithium pack is not a good idea IMHO. The Tesla fire in France was traced to a failed connection in a new 18650 pack. No thanks.

Tempting. Two of these would make a kick-a$$ battery pack, if they are as legit as described.

Tesla Model S battery module, 24V, 250Ah, 5.3kWh, 444 Panasonic 18650 3400mAh
