Default ZEVA error code "No comms to charger”

I had this error code pop up the last time I charged my pack. To clear the error code I just hit the sleep switch, and then turned it back on and the error didn't return.

However, I charged it again today and got the error code again. I sent these pic's to Ian and will await his reply. I did get an auto-response from Ian that he's on vacation and will get back to all inquiries when he returns. I'll post "what's up" when I know.

BTW....this was\is the only time (last charge and now) that I've gotten this error message. When my cart "appears" to be fully charged....like it's charging at max and the monitor says 1.2-amp charging, I usually pull the plug. Same as I've always done. So.....I dunno what the issue could be.

Have you checked to make sure your CAN wires are still properly seated in the connector at the monitor, BMS and also to the charger?

If You pull the power from the charger while it is still charging, the charger can no longer send status updates via CAN bus to the Zeva and after about 1sec it will give you a 'No Communication' error on the CAN bus.

Make sure your settings are correct, if the target Voltage as shown is 57v, how come all your batteries are above the 4.07v (57v / 14 cells)?

My ZEVA settings are as follows:

MAX Chg 57.0
Full Voltage 56.0
Balance V 4.08
Max cell V 4.15

Correct me if I am wrong, as you all are painfully aware by now, I am still learning...

Wouldn't you want your Balance V to be lower than what the Max voltage would be?

Since you have Max V set to 57, that would equate to 4.0714.... With these settings, would the BMS ever balance the cells?

As well as, your Max cell V 4.15, is higher than your total Max chg of 57, shouldn't that match?

No those settings are OK.

You do not want your balancing voltage lower than the "Max Charging Voltage" / "Number of cells" value rounded UP or you could have too many shunts active at the same time which at the very least is inefficient.

Ideally there is enough "head room" between where the charger voltage finishes and the actual maximum cell voltage to allow for the balancing circuit to work and it the case of a Sepex cart to allow Regen brake even on a fully charged pack.

I am guessing the issue may be charger regulation of the 57v, perhaps as a test You could lower the charging voltage to 56v, leave all of the other settings in place and see where the cell voltages are once the charger shuts OFF by itself.

If I have to charge before I hear from Ian, I'll do just that. Assuming he provides me with an answer.

Dave; does your charger every actually turn itself OFF after it has completed a charge. Or, does it stay humming but decrease the number of amps to "0" once the charge is complete?

My charger doesn't hum.....the fan runs on and off. I've never left it "on" until the screen (see below)"Current" (reading in the middle) went to zero. Various reasons for that......but the prime one being I was going to bed or leaving the house and I don't leave the charger on when those types of events occur.
