Default resistor to solid state

I have a '85 resistor cart, or used to have I should say. Just finished installing the conversion kit offered by ScottyB. I am new to tinkering with carts but that was an easy conversion. Had to make one small deviation from plans but no trouble at all. Great set of directions and wiring schematic. If you are considering doing this to your cart I would say go for it. Happy customer here, THANKS Scottyb.

As the cart is not complete I will answer that when a true road test can be done. Test done last night was with rear end on jacks. My comments were directed toward the product and instructions provided.

As a way of explanation I bought this old cart not being an informed buyer. My bad. As it was a 36v and needing batteries I could either buy new batteries and live with it or update it. After reading various post on this site I made the decision to convert to solid state, upgrade to 48v and make other modifications. So have I wasted more money? Don't think so and I have had fun learning about carts, (stuff I should have known before ever buying one), and doing the work on this little project. So the kids get a little less inheritance, life is full of disappointments and they will get over it. When I put in the 8v batteries I do expect better torque for hills and some more overall speed. Could I have bought a newer 48v cart? Sure but I don't play golf and I am retired so this keeps me out of the wardens way.

I fully understand. I will be interested what it is like when done. I have an old club car I love and will always have. I just bought a newer one and a customizing it to take to the lake and bring the old cart home for the house. It is already customized but the batteries are 5 years old and when it's time to replace them I will probably go with 48.

That's pretty bad. I guess I need to pay closer attention.
