Upgrading drive system
Hello all, I just recently bought a 1996 EZ-GO TXT. All components are stock. The batteries are brand new and hold a charge, but when me and my passengers go up hills in my neighborhood the cart seems like it barely wants to go up it. Does this have to do with the torque of the motor? I would like to increase my torque as cheap as possible. Thanks in advance.

Re: Upgrading drive system
I have the series drive type with a forward and reverse lever. I clicked on your website and I didn’t see any link for the series upgrades. I want to upgrade but keep the stock motor because of the price of an upgraded motor.

Upgrading drive system
You can get more torque out of the stock motor by getting a new controller, cables, and solenoid. You might also need an FNR switch. Unfortunately, you won’t get much more speed unless you upgrade the voltage or change the motor.
I’d look at the Alltrax SR48400 or bigger. |

Re: Upgrading drive system
When replacing the jumper cables do you upgrade them from 4 gauge to 2 gauge? Also when replacing those do you have to change all other wiring to bigger wires? Also do they sale solenoid forward reverse switch and speed controller as a combo?

of course this is upgrading all of it, I am going to start out with the cables this weekend, doing my own, then i will be doing the speed controller, solenoid and F/R switch and see what I get. I may find other problems that are making my cart act like yours this weekend so I'll let you know what I find. there is a post here talking about some of it. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...e-too-big.html I would use the SR48500 control. MZJ400A solenoid SW202-48 kit 2g cable set (ours or make your own) Aftermarket AMD Beast motor 7126 6/8v batteries Good Luck, I'll be watching. |

Re: Upgrading drive system
Yes I will, I will try to take some good pictures of anything else that I find. I have already spotted one very suspect connection from an earlier picture that was taken days ago by my wife while I was at work and it is one of the leads that leaves the battery pack. I zoomed in so you can see it better.

Re: Upgrading drive system
Dwalls what kit did you buy for the 2 gauge wires? Or is it cheaper to just make them on my own?
