Default ERIC charger with upgraded controller concern

Club Car 2016 Precedent Model JE (i2Excel), No OBC, ERIC Charger, 48V (6x
Project Speed upgrade Motor, controller, solenoid, 4g cables, New Trojan 875 batteries, Motor AMD 48V 7HP (7144), Controller Curtis 1268, Solenoid SW180

I tested Fwd/Rev on jack stands - checked okay – reverse buzzer sounded

When I plugged in the charger I did not get charging confirmation no light flashing, no buzzer sound.
Question: Is this normal with the new controller? And I’m guessing that the low battery warning won’t work either.

The ERIC charger status indicators appear to be working – flashing green on the bottom turned solid after 6 Hrs. now the top indicator is flashing (battery has reached a high state of charge). The pack charging voltage is 62 and the new batteries have a lot of cooking action going on.
Question: I’m concerned about overcharging and the charger not going into auto shutoff, will the ERIC charger and the new controller go into auto shutoff? – Thanks

The Eric charger essentially has the old OBC inside of it and tracks the charge data etc. internally. The Eric charger should be reading pack voltage during charge and should shut off automatically. This is assuming you wired the controller correctly.

IIRC, when I installed my Alltrax XCT the little battery light in the dash became inoperative when plugging the charger in. However the ERIC charger still worked fine. It’s normal to get a lot of gurgling with new batteries. There is a good list of new battery break in procedures on cartsunlimited.net

I have been using the Eric charge system with the Alltrax XCT for many months now. There was never any odd behavior. The Eric charger works the same as it did with the OEM controller installed. No charge adjustment or change was made.

Looking at the Eric interlock circuit I would think You have to remove the 10kΩ from the harness and switch the Alltrax setting to High/Low for the Eric to disable the cart when plugged.

I can confirm the HI/Low setting for Eric chargers.

Oh goody! Spam!

Since they brought this post up, let's put up some useful info!
With the ERIC charger you have the ability to program new charge algorithms for use with different batteries. The original configuration is probably OK for most batteries but Delta-Q does have specific algorithms for Trojan batteries (as well as MANY other battery brands and models). If you change batteries, it's best to update the charge algorithm in the charger with one designed for your new batteries, to make sure you get the best power output and service life, as different batteries benefit more from different charge profiles. Delta-Q lists several algorithms on their site and they are FREE to download.

Also free is their IDAT software which allows you to view charge data and many other parameters that are stored on the charger.

I know Lester provides the free software and charging profiles for the Summit series and they are very easy to download and install with a smart phone.

As far as I know the only free tool from Delta-Q is the iDat software to view the charging logs from the charger, everything else is OEM or dealers only.

Where did You find the free programming software in their site?
