Replacing rear axle assembly
I am still dissembling, but seems pretty likely I chewed some teeth up in my rear differential assembly (definitely not a hub). Looking around the internet, replacing the entire rear axle assembly might be the better solution than just the differential. I had to replace the passenger rear axle last year and I think the age of the cart/trail riding is catching up to it. The cart is a 1998 txt 6 seater that I upgraded to lithium ion (leaf) batteries.
Any thoughts on replacing it? Salvage, remanufactured, 3rd party? Likely going to avoid salvage, but wondering if anyone had any other thoughts. Or maybe I should just do a differential assembly - found 350 for a limited-slip differential. $950 for this or 1400 for OEM from a dealer. When I purchased it in 2016 it was already lifted. Since I am going through the effort to remove the rear assembly, I thought I should put in new heavy duty leaf springs, bushings and shocks. Any thoughts or recommendations on parts or additional work would be appreciated. |
