Battery Charger Issue
My 2008 Txt has 6 - 6 volt batteries. When I plug in the charger it clicks and flashes green light. Even after over night charge it is still clicking and flashing green light but the cart does not go but for 5 min.
The voltage on each battery is 5.7 - 5.8. Is there something I can check on the charger or do I just need a new one? Thanks, Larry |

Re: Battery Charger Issue
At 5.7 to 5.8 your batteries are dead. The charger must sense a minimum voltage in order to start the charge cycle. How old are the batteries? How long have they been in this state of discharge?

Is that by chance one of the "Powerwise QE " chargers? Relatively small case, but looks like it's about 1/2 heat sink? Some of those were known for failures and generally considered not worth trying to fix. Go shopping for a new (and better) charger. Sooner the better. Batteries may still be usable if you can get them charged up properly. Till you an get another cart charger, you could at least try to bring the batteries back up with a regular 12 volt automotive charger by going 2 batteries at a time. The longer they are left discharged the less chance they will come back. Certainly don't continue trying to run the cart till you get the batteries charged up somehow. |
