Default Torque Converter

Hi All,

I am looking to convert a 98 club car electric to gas with a predator 420. I plan to use a 40 series torque converter but all the reviews I have seen on various sites speak of problems with craftsmanship, alignment issues, and the need to swap out or reconfigure springs. I don't really have the desire to re-engineer something I have bought, so I am wondering if any of you have had luck with a particular supplier and if you could provide a link. One review suggested getting an original comet, but I can't even find that. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Go with a genuine comet 500 or 780.

The problem with an electric frame from that era is the frame rails are too close together to fit a gas engine dressed with clutch between the frame rails. If you do some crazy setup with a jack-shaft and offset the engine to the left side it can work. But usually it’s easier to buy a gas cart frame. The newer DS frames (like 04 and up) and all of the Precedent frames you can fit any gas engine into no problem.
