Default Fire, smoke and other stupidity

I have a 1986 CC with the 5 solenoids and coils.

While doing a cable upgrade, I had a major short circuit. I disconnected the S1(bottom cable on the motor) from the F/R switch. I let the cable (still connected to the motor) touch the cable on the F/R switch that goes to the #1 batt. (+) term. Many sparks and some smoke later , the cart won't move..
All 5 solenoids click in forward and reverse.

I would check the micro switches on the F/R switch. They want take a lot of punishment. The surge could have done them in. Did you check the motor connections good?
Check the coils also.
Last but not lest it could have taken the motor out.

After posting this question, I started reading some other similar posts. The one thing that kept coming up was trouble with the solenoid on the driver's side. I followed the directions for testing the solenoid. First I checked for 36v at the small terminals. I did get 36v there. Then with the pedal depressed I checked for continuity between the large posts on the solenoid. No continuity. Then I jumped the solenoid with a large gauge jumper and The cart moved! I haven't checked the other solenoids yet, but I think this is where the problem lies. The motor definitely works, and the F/R switch works. Now as you guys said, it's either a micro switch or 1 or more solenoids.

I did buy a new prestolite solenoid on ebay for $18.50 plus shipping.
