Re: New Smashed motor...advice
I don't see why it shouldn't work just fine with a stock controller.

Re: New Smashed motor...advice
That is an increase from 3 to 9 hp. Curious how the 215 amp stock control and solenoid is going to handle the increased draw?

But the stock controller can't put out more than 200 amps right?

Re: New Smashed motor...advice
Motor HP doesn't mean it will draw more Amps. It just means it can handle more amps.

Well it will be a good experiment as long as the obc doesn't melt too as I'm replacing it all
I know my local shop was pushing a D&D 502 motor and cable swap only for higher speed. The goal here is drivable for a week till I can finish not higher speed / torque till it's all done. A Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: New Smashed motor...advice
I have installed high HP high speed motors on several carts with the stock controller.
In each case, the result is reduced torque and increased speed. The cart is very slow to take off. If starting on a hill, good luck! The controllers have worked fine for long periods of time, no damage. |

Thx, just need to roll around the neighborhood, not show off... Yet
Any one know if it's ok to leave the usb cable connected to a controller after install? I want to route a cable so it's easier to reprogram etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: New Smashed motor...advice
Put in Tow mode if you have a RUn/Tow switch and DISCONNECT your battery system before changing out the motor! You can disconnect any of the battery cables - doesn't matter which one.
