Throttle Hook up on Utilicar 1969 DS
I am at wits end with the throttle cable operation both at the pedal and at the carb. I printed out the manual but the pictures are not the best is it possible for someone to take a few photos of the carb hook up? you can PM me and I will send you my email address. One problem I have is the cable seems to work in reverse so that stepping on the foot pedal closes the carb. I am at wits end on this.

The throttle lever on the carb should be spring loaded in the full open condition (throttle full on with no cable) The cable should allow the throttle to open when the gas pedal is pushed. I will try to post a photo later today.

Re: Throttle Hook up on Utilicar 1969 DS
Yes the throttle plate is spring loaded so it comes to rest against the carb body there are two slots the top slot has a stiff wire thru it and bent over so it can pull the throttle plate closed like a governor.
The throttle cable is working in the exact opposite of what it should when I step on the pedal this closes the throttle and when I lift my foot this opens the throttle. Must be so simple that I cannot see what is wrong. |

Problem solved, seems everything works backwards from what I have been taught, on this engine the spring on the throttle plate pulls the carb wide open I thank you for the help.

Look at it carefully. The wire with the hook should be pulling the throttle closed then as the pedal is pushed the hook should move toward the back of the cart releasing the throttle lever and allowing the spring to open the throttle.

This thing has me baffled and a picture of the throttle lever on the carb would sure help, when I got this car all the cables were disconnected as well as the wiring so it has been a learning curve a steep one at that.

The way the governor was made demanded that the throttle was hooked up that way. Now that the carts are not used on the course most owners throw away the governor.
