Testing batteries!
Hi
My Trojan 875's are 4.5 yrs old 6x8 volts in a 2010 cc Prec how can l test them to see if they need to be replaced? I believe l located a pickup truck with a hitch but the owner's mother in law just passed so l have to let it pass. In the meantime l need to find a trailer if possible. |

Re: Testing batteries!
My top end dropped from approx 19.5 mph code 4 to now 16/17 mph I only drive it approx a total of 2 miles a day when used. I occasionally take it a total of 10 miles with no issues. I have a toe in or toe out problem but will take care of it when l pick up new wheels and tires. Replacing the batteries will determine what l have left over to spend. |

Re: Testing batteries!
Check the front end bushings too
4 on the control arm & 2 on the spring Have seen bent spindles too. Fast tire wear is a good indication of front end issues Had a cart that gained 5 mph after new bushings & a front end alignment Was towed out real bad |

Re: Testing batteries!
Batteries have more to do with distance than speed. So if right off the charger the cart does 16-17, Id go after the minor stuff. Tire pressure, dragging brake, as you stated alignment. On a 2 MPH loss, I'm going after that, not batteries.

Re: Testing batteries!
Just tested all 6 batteries
Temp approx 60 degrees Batteries fully charged disconnected battery charger for test. The results as follows 8.48 8.54 8.51 8.49 8.50 8.51 My front alignment (toe in) needs correction. Any comments? Should l wait with the battery charger not connected for awhile to see what happens ? Thanks |

A load test tells the condition better hook a meter to the pack & drive up a hill, see what it drops down to when loaded. 51 volts is OK. Should be OK for running 2 miles a day for a while yet. Keep them charged after each use. Curious what size battery cables you have ? Factory cables ? You can remove the batts & take them to be load tested. Good weight lifting exercise |

Re: Testing batteries!
I tested the batteries after they were fully charged and disconnected from charger.
The cables are stock as is the rest of the cart. I have no problem with distance so far but l only travel 4/5 miles when used. I will be with one of my local shops tomorrow and then l will have him test the batteries. I only tested them so. that l had an idea what was going on. |

I would think given your voltages, the batteries are still goof for a while. If you can do the run up the hill test with the voltage meter on the pack that would be a good test. Also retest the batteries when they are off the charger for 10 - 12 hours and give us the readings again. Aflyer |
