Default Ignitor Shorting Out

I'm having trouble with my '97 ezgo gas cart. I get no response when pressing the pedal. I have narrowed it down to this: when I disconnect the ignitor from the hot lead off the solenoid after the pedal and key switch (control side of the solenoid), the starter turns over perfectly. When the ignitor is connected, I get nothing (the solenoid won't operate). As if there is a short in the ignitor or something. See attached diagram for reference to the lead I'm disconnecting. Any suggestions? I hate to throw a $120 ignitor at it without knowing really what's going on.

Check ignitor ground. Has to be grounded to frame. Maybe not getting good ground. If that's good, seems your ignitor is bad. I believe anything over 16 volts will burn them out, may want to test voltage regulator to make sure your not getting more voltage otherwise you chance burning up a new one.

After cleaning all the contacts I could think of, it turned out to be a bad connection in the main fuse. It appears that it was completely coincidental that every time I connected and disconnected the ignitor it wiggled the fuse connector making the motor run or not run. Ugh. Thanks for the help.
