Default New Napa 8-volt battery?

I am in the market for a new set of 8-volt batteries. I was looking at the Napa 8148 which is now manufactured by Johnson control. Exide used to build the same model number for Napa up until last year, I was told. I can't find the specs on the newer Johnson control version.

With that said, can anyone elaborate on the specs and quality of this battery. Is it going to be comparable to an Interstate GC8-HD or a Trojan 875?

Thanks,
SHMO

Question Re: New Napa 8-volt battery?

Just my 2 cents worth. The NAPA batteries around here I don't care to much for them myself.

I vote Interstate . That's what I'm running.. All the Napa batts I've seen have poor run times.... I'd also say it depends on the cost between the 2. Do you pay more for longer run times or save $$$$ and charge more often... I got mine thru a friend who is a Interstate dealer. Sold them to me at his cost... $87 each.....

I know this is going to sound funny but I have had good luck with energizer batteries that I got from SAMs for about $85 or so.. The only problem I have had with them is thin bottoms that causes some seepage but easly fixed with some paint sticks

I can get these Napa batteries for about $110 a pop, compared to the Interstate GC8 HD at roughly $125. I am leaning towards the Interstate, but didn't want to jump on it if the Napa batteries were comparable.

I am surprised at the price you quoted, VC-Racing. The Interstate's retail here for $155. That's a HUGE markup.

I got mine 2 yrs ago. I was surprised too, when I was pricing batteries. I had one dealer quote me $900 for Trojans. I called my friend and asked him if he could get Interstate GC batt's . He called his rep and called me back with a yes. I went to Interstates site and checked the spec's on their batteries , call him with a SKU # and with in 30 mins he called back with a price. $87 plus tax . I picked them up the next week.

Wink Re: New Napa 8-volt battery?

I can buy 6 volts no brand with same specs as Trojan 105's for $559.00 with no core.
Heck for all I know they maybe NAPA batteries just don't have the labels on them.
