Default Using my golf cart for "golf".

I know that most on this site use their buggies for other things besides golf. I have a golf related question about mine if someone can chime in. I have a 1999 EZ-GO series cart with 2 year old batteries. Everything to do with the drive system is stock right now. I am looking for more speed, but nothing overwhelming at this moment. I have read lots of threads on here about how to speed them up but I was wondering how this affects the run time of the batteries. Could I still make a full day of golf (18 holes+) after doing some upgrades on the system? Maybe another option would be to sell this cart and buy a gasser instead. I bought this one at a time when I was tired of gas carts, but I was using a 82 Harley at the time . Any help would be appreciated before I start to put cash into this one that I could use to go towards a different buggie.

Thumbs up Re: Using my golf cart for "golf".

You can do some mild stuff to it and still get a full round of golf out of it!

You most likely want to keep it as is on the outside and do a motor swap with a little better controller. This will keep you in the park and not have the grounds people coming after you.
You need to check with the course and make sure they don't have a problem with you if you decide to lift it and put some off road tires on it.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked wiht the course already and they do not mind a little lift or speed. It is a small town course and they are pretty easy going. Now I can start to look at some parts from some of the sponsors to get a build going.

Wink Re: Using my golf cart for "golf".

If you use the cart mainly for 18 holes of golf and want speed checkout PQ motors. They will give you 20% more speed and torque.
This is off their website:

36 volt carts with only the Bandit motor upgrade should get around a 20% increase in both overall torque and speed.

48 volt carts with only the Bandit motor upgrade should get around a 25% increase in both overall torque and speed.
If I can you LMK.

I know that this golf is a foreign word on this site, but I can explain it sometime. The bad thing is that now that I want to start working on the cart it has almost taken over wanting to golf. It is a little bit of an addiction once you start tinkering with them!

I upgraded my 1998 series cart to 48v and get nearly 30mph out of it and it easily goes 36 holes without issues.
My stock configuration is Curtis 400a controller, stock F-N-R switch, stock 36v solenoid, Stock Advanced motor, stock 205/50-10 18'5" tires.
